Description:
The Non-Urgent Transportation Program provides clients who can transfer safely and independently into a vehicle with rides to essential appointments such as doctors and dentists for a reasonable cost. Priority is given to appointments of a medical nature; other trips, e.g. banking, can sometimes be accommodated.
New clients wishing to access the transportation program are required to undergo an intake to determine eligibility and review the roles and responsibilities of the client, the driver, and The Good Companions. Drives are matched on a ‘first come, first served’ basis according to the availability of drivers and vehicles. Clients are asked to give at least one week (7 days) notice of their upcoming appointments.

Cost is based on kilometers driven per round trip, between $12.00 up to $27.00.

Minimum Age: 55 yrs
Criteria:
  • Client must be able to manage physically with minimal assistance, such as an arm for guidance. Please note that walkers can be transported, however a wheelchair or scooter cannot
  • Agrees to complete intake and sign program agreement before using the program
  • Seniors 55+; Adults with physical disabilities 18+.
